Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

  • CQU graduate contributes to droving history

    CQU graduate Neville Tickner has contributed to the history of Australian droving by working on a series of three books called 'Last of the Packhorse Stockmen'.

    The books tell the story of Warwick Edwards, who spent a life-time droving after heading for the Kimberley as a 14-year-old.

    Central Queensland University has welcomed another export award, to add to the State and national export awards it has won in recent years.

    Wednesday night (Sept 24) at Mackay\'s Ocean International Resort, it was announced that CQU has won the Education Category for the 2003 CQ Regional Export Awards and is now eligible for selection for the Premier of Queensland\'s Export Awards on October 22 in Brisbane and could be in contention for the national export award finals in Sydney on December 4.

    Dr Wal Taylor, from Informatics and Communication, has just returned from being an invited speaker at Community Informatics events in Salzburg (Austria) and Prato (Italy) during September.

    Dr Taylor said he was highly honoured to be invited to be a member of the Faculty for the Salzburg seminar on Digital Inclusion held in Salzburg, Austria.
