Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Our coastal fringing reefs may be close but they are often forgotten.  That's all about to change thanks to funding provided by the Burnett Mary Regional Group which recently allocated $220,000 to allow Central Queensland University's Centre for Environmental Management to map the reefs and co-existing habitats.

    Recycled clothing and clothing hand-painted with images of Australian flora and fauna will feature during the Gupullah Arts Fashion Parade.

    Gupullah Arts, based in Eidsvold, is a project of CQ Indigenous Development Ltd, a not-for-profit organisationn which helps Indigenous people find employment and develops Indigenous enterprise in the CQ region.

  • Region's water diversity attracts new Biomedical Sciences leader

    Professor Robert Reed has travelled from England to join CQU and he says our region's diverse water environments were a selling point for the move.

    The newly appointed Professor of Biomedical Sciences made a brief visit to CQU Rockhampton in April to meet key staff members and he will return full-time in from next week (July 23).
