Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Doctors and trainers who run on to the field to treat injuries should be fit and aware of the rules regarding interaction with players, according to sports medicine leader Erik Hohmann.

    Mr Hohmann, an orthopaedic surgeon and Associate Professor at CQU, said the weekend's footage of an AFL match showing a clash between a doctor and a player had brought these issues into the spotlight.

    Head of Nursing and Health Studies Dr Lorna Moxham has received confirmation she will be included in the next edition (the 5th) of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.

    The Marquis publication aims to 'recognise today's leaders in the teaching, practice, planning, financing and delivery of healthcare'.

    That is despite the fact many of her graduating classmates ended up at schools on the Sunshine Coast, and despite the fact her fianci and family are also in that region.

  • Hundreds flock to city and coast academic events
