Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    Lucy, who bears a striking resemblance to Kylie Minogue, (she should be so lucky) has been performing for the past 3 years in her internationally acclaimed tribute show, ‘100% Kylie’, and says she has “the best job in the world”.

    Computer Associates, one of the world's largest management software companies, has signed a 12-month contract with CQU Melbourne to engage Information Technology and Information Systems students on a two-month industry experience program at their Lilydale plant.

    Manager of the campus TECC (Training, Employment and Careers Coaching) unit Anne Roubin is pleased with the students’ approach and keenness to be a part of this program.

    Students at the CQU Melbourne International Campus were relieved to know that Taxation Help was provided for their Income Tax Assessment for 2005.

    Five students were selected for the campaign and attended training at the Australian Tax Office to certify for this program.

    Central Queensland University performing arts students will produce a ‘spoofy, madcap, hoot with lots of singing and dancing’ when they present Brasco & Yanovich.

    Promoted as ‘music theatre with a shot of something on the side’, the production will be staged at the Bencke Studio, CQU’s building 4, on Friday and Saturday October 7-8 starting at 7pm.

    Ms Meena Jha has presented her paper titled: Re-using Code for Modernising of Legacy Systems at the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Conference on Software Technology and Engineering Practice, September 24-25, 2005 in Budapest, Hungary.

  • New student facilities open at Brisbane

    It was time for celebration again at CQU Brisbane International Campus on August 12 when about 60 students and staff gathered in the Library to mark International Youth Day and to witness the official opening of new student facilities.

    The new facilities include: Library group study area and Learning Support Unit on Level 1; Student Association/Lounge on Level 2; New computer lab (Lab E) with 22 computers on Level 3.
