Students in Years 10 and 11, from as far-a-field as Glendon, Clermont, Collinsville and Proserpine will make their way to Central Queensland University Mackay next week, to participate in a range of activities for National Science Week.
CQU Administration Officer and Science Week Coordinator, Vivien Clift said “the one-day program will give students the opportunity to undertake activities in Science, Engineering and Technology which may help them make informed decisions about their subject choices, and may encourage them to consider career options in these areas.

It's not necessarily curtains for Central Queensland University (CQU) student Ngaiire Joseph, who missed advancing as a finalist to the next stage of Australian Idol this week. The Jazz Studies student at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music at CQU Mackay is eligible for a second shot at the Idol crown in an upcoming Wild Card show.

Mackay is the exclusive host city for the Australian showcase of Digital Magic, a community presentation by digital media artists from Lord of the Rings and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).
The presentation at Central Queensland University Mackay on Wednesday, September 1 from 7pm-9pm will be transmitted live to community audiences on video screens located at CQU's Rockhampton, Gladstone and Bundaberg campuses.

Applications are now invited for tens of thousands of dollars in CQU Research grants and awards, according to the Office of Research.
Research by early career researchers is being encouraged and rewarded through the CQU Seed Grants Scheme and the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Emerging Researchers, both of which called for applications this week.

Queensland Alumina Limited is offering a $5000 scholarship for a full-time first year student enrolled in Science, Business, Engineering or Informatics at Central Queensland University.
The QAL scholar will receive $5000 per year for the duration of his/her undergraduate program subject to continued satisfactory academic performance.

Over 60 delegates will attend the Australian Human Resources Institute Conference, supported by Central Queensland University, at Rydges Capricorn International Resort on Monday 16 August.
