Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

The Jazz Studies student at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music at CQU Mackay is eligible for a second shot at the Idol crown in an upcoming Wild Card show.

  • Lord of the Rings visual artists make presentations to CQ community

    Mackay is the exclusive host city for the Australian showcase of Digital Magic, a community presentation by digital media artists from Lord of the Rings and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).

    The presentation at Central Queensland University Mackay on Wednesday, September 1 from 7pm-9pm will be transmitted live to community audiences on video screens located at CQU's Rockhampton, Gladstone and Bundaberg campuses.

    Research by early career researchers is being encouraged and rewarded through the CQU Seed Grants Scheme and the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Emerging Researchers, both of which called for applications this week.

    The QAL scholar will receive $5000 per year for the duration of his/her undergraduate program subject to continued satisfactory academic performance.
