Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    CQU's first Indigenous PhD graduate Maria Raciti is among 210 Australian teachers to receive citations for outstanding contributions to student learning.

    Her Carrick Award citation recognises her for 'creating a successful relational learning environment for business students of all abilities".

    CQU Nursing academics Kerry Reid-Searl, Dr Trudy Dwyer, Dr Lorna Moxham and Jacqueline Ryan are happy with sales of their new book, the \'Student Nurse Clinical Survival Guide\'.

    Dr Moxham, who is Head of the School of Nursing & Health Studies, said the team had a second book \"on the proposal table already\".

  • Bundaberg's Florida visitors host maths and science workshops

    Recent workshops at CQU Bundaberg by a team of science educators from Florida State University introduced teachers and pre-service teachers to Great Explorations in Mathematics and Science (GEMS).

    Funded by the National Science Foundation of America, the team consisted of Dr Ellen Granger, Todd Bevis and Robin Smith, who were accompanied by 2 middle school teachers and a team of science graduate students.
