Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Adult learning peak body visits, calls for 'reassessment'

The president of Australia's peak adult learning body, Professor Barry Golding has visited Rockhampton for a forum calling for a reassessment of adult education in Australia.

CQUniversity hosted the forum at its Ron Smyth Building in Quay Street.

    CQU Graduating Engineers showcased research projects on sustainable housing designs, traffic congestion, steering systems and more to their peers, industry leaders, family, potential employers and the wider Central Queensland community on Friday at GECON 2004, the graduating engineers conference.

    More than 30 final year projects of the Bachelor of Engineering students were displayed through a collection of posters accompanied by oral presentations.

    Professor Elizabeth Taylor, AO, Dean of the James Goldston Faculty of Engineering and Physical Systems, has been named among Australia’s most influential engineers by Engineers Australia.

    Professor Taylor, who also Chairs the Board of Professional Engineers in Queensland, was recognised for her achievements in the field and her contributions to the profession through the design and implementation of innovative academic programs and for promoting engineering as a career option, especially for women.

    Gerda, a course and administration officer at CQU Gladstone started out as a bookshop supervisor and administration staff member in 1989.
